A new look for 115 years – and where we’re going next

Today, you may notice that EML looks a little different.

We’ve unveiled a refreshed brand to mark our 115-year anniversary celebrating more than a century of helping Australians recover from injury or illness, in and out of the workplace.

This refresh – brighter, bolder and more modern, with our mutual heritage front and centre – reflects who we are today, the purpose we’ve always stood for, and where we’re heading next.

From our humble beginnings in 1910 – when five bakers came together to financially support injured industrial workers, we’ve grown into Australia’s largest personal injury claims manager, still 100% Australian owned.

We have supported more than 1.5 million people through recovery and manage around 90,000 claims year across workers compensation, CTP, superannuation and other personal injury lines, partnering with every major workers compensation regulator and insurer in Australia.

“I’m proud of our history. Being part of a company where people leave a legacy for the next generation, and being Australia’s largest personal injury manager today, makes this milestone special.” - EML Executive Chairman, Cameron McCullagh.

A refreshed brand for our next chapter

Our refreshed brand also marks where we’re heading next – including our ambition to achieve 100% admin-free case management.

EML’s technology and AI investments have delivered measurable improvements across claims operations, including:

  • 190,600+ calls transcribed and summarised using AI

  • 80% reduction in medical document review time

  • 14,700 wage calculations automated

  • 6,850+ hours of manual work removed annually

  • $4.83 million in prevented billing costs via purpose built tech

  • $9.7 million in leakage prevented by our in-house Medical Coding Specialist Team

“We’re using technology to remove the administrative burden so our teams can spend more time supporting the people who rely on us,” Cameron says.

“We’re bringing our mutual purpose back to the forefront, continuing to reinvest in helping people recover, and modernising the claims experience through technology and in-house built AI.

“What will never change as we evolve is what matters most – and that’s helping our people, and the care and support they bring to every claim.”

Looking ahead

In 2025, we reinvested a record $24.6 million in a single year through our Mutual Benefits Program, funding free training, injury prevention, recovery innovation, research and partnerships at no cost to customers.

Our Mutual Benefits Program is unique to EML and reflects our mutual heritage and values. It’s how we support the people and communities we serve – enabling us to reinvest in customers, employers and injured Australians in ways no other provider can. Over the past ten years we’ve reinvested more than $144 million across initiatives that strengthen safety and recovery.

With long- standing partnerships across NSW, South Australia and Victoria, we’re now looking ahead – focused on expanding our AI capability, strengthening recovery pathways, and continuing to work with governments, insurers and employers to improve the way injury claims are managed for the people and communities who rely on us.

I’m more excited about EML now than I ever have been,” Cameron says.
