The finalists for 2025 Comcare National Work Health and Safety Awards have been announced!
We’re delighted to announce that EML Group has been chosen as a Finalist in the Category 2 – Recovery at and Return to Work Award.
This award recognises excellence in providing early, proactive support to employees with an injury or illness, facilitation their recovery at and return to work. This recognition is a reflection of our commitment to supporting customers and partners across workers compensation, accident and health, life and disability, public liability and CTP, servicing more than 90,000 claims per year.
EML, in partnership with Comcare, identified an opportunity to deploy early career transition support services for injured workers who are likely to face a career transition based on their injury or claim type.
The Career Transition Service and Program was piloted in collaboration with Comcare, ensuring a structured and effective approach to assisting workers who required alternative career pathways. The initiative was led by David Field from Comcare and Simon Bennett from EML, combining their expertise to implement a meaningful support framework as early as possible within the claim.

Since the early design of Career Transition Services in 2017–2018, Sam and Tiff have been at the heart of shaping a people-centred, purpose-driven program.
The Career Transition Program has significantly improved return-to-work (RTW) outcomes for injured workers: RTW outcomes for participants compared to non-participants have increased 247% . The program’s success is attributed to tailored job coaching, the use of the Birkman Assessment Tool to measure behaviours and motivations, and dedicated Career Management Specialists providing personalized support. The program also facilitated volunteering roles to help participants rebuild confidence and gain work experience, leading to successful job placements.
Thank you to Comcare for acknowledging our contribution to the industry and congratulations to all other finalists!
