Expanding capability, strengthening partnerships and delivering better outcomes for clients and their people.
EML’s Self-Insurance business has achieved another year of strong growth, marked by the expansion of its client base, investment in specialist capability and the introduction of innovative solutions designed to improve outcomes for organisations and injured workers. Over the past 12 months, EML has welcomed six new self-insurance clients, further strengthening its position as a trusted partner for organisations seeking tailored, high-performing claims management solutions. The growth reflects increasing demand for self-insurance models that deliver greater control, improved employee outcomes and a strong focus on recovery and return to work.
According to Breeanna Bergin, General Manager, National Self-Insurance, the past year has been defined by both momentum and purpose. “This year has been one of significant growth for our Self-Insurance business. We’ve strengthened our team, expanded our capabilities and continued to earn the trust of organisations looking for a long-term partner in self-insurance.
"The momentum we've built reflects the dedication of our people and our focus on delivering meaningful outcomes for our clients and their employees.”
Investing in innovation
As EML’s Self-Insurance business continues to grow, so too does its investment in technology and service innovation.
This year saw the launch of SurveyCore, EML’s purpose-built platform for capturing and managing customer feedback, compliments and complaints. The solution provides valuable insights that help strengthen service delivery, improve responsiveness and enhance the overall customer experience.
EML has also introduced ProviderCore, a new digital platform that streamlines the management of medico-legal appointments and bookings. By providing case managers with real-time visibility of provider availability, the platform reduces administration, improves transparency and supports faster access to treatment and assessment services.
Together, these investments enhance efficiency, improve decision making and ultimately help deliver better outcomes for clients and workers.
Addressing emerging workplace challenges
EML is also taking a proactive role in helping organisations respond to emerging psychosocial risks in the workplace.
In response to the increasing prevalence of occupational violence and aggression claims, EML has established an Occupational Violence Community of Practice, a six-month, EML-funded initiative bringing together organisations from across industries to share knowledge, strengthen capability and translate evidence into practical action.
The Community of Practice creates a dedicated forum for organisations to collaborate on one of the fastest-growing psychosocial hazards facing Australian workplaces, with a focus on improving psychological health and safety outcomes.
Further strengthening EML’s approach to recovery and treatment management, a new Claims Treatment Specialist function will soon be introduced within the self-insurance claims model.
The role will focus on ensuring treatment decisions remain evidence-based, consistent and outcomes-driven, helping to improve recovery outcomes, strengthen provider accountability and reduce unnecessary medical costs.
Looking ahead
With a growing client portfolio, expanding specialist expertise and a continued commitment to innovation, EML remains focused on helping organisations navigate an evolving regulatory environment while achieving better outcomes for their people.
