EML were proud partners in a number of finalist entries at this years’ icare TMF 2016 Awards for Excellence in Sydney on Tuesday 8 November 2016.
Hosted by icare Self Insurance, these annual awards provide an opportunity for TMF members to recognise the achievements in risk management in the public sector.
In a joint award for Outstanding Frameworks and Systems, NSW Health were recognised for their Work Injury Screening and Early Intervention (WISE) Study that focused on early intervention in relation to high-risk musculoskeletal injuries. NSW Health teamed up with icare, the University of Sydney and EML for this study.
A joint award for Innovation - Design was also presented to Fire & Rescue NSW, who worked with Black Dog Institute and EML on the Proactive and Early Intervention Approach to PTSD. This program was developed to tackle the impact psychological injuries have on First Responders and is a blue-print for emergency service agencies on how to successfully manage psychological injuries.
In the category of Innovation – Process, NSW Police Force received a Highly Commended award for their program Moving better together: NSW Police Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Model. This program targets officers experiencing musculo-skeletal injuries and helps to return police officers back to full capacity earlier by combining a sports physiotherapist with a reconditioning coach.
As a mutual, EML has supported these programs through Member Benefit funding, investing over $26m in the past four years to support work health and safety, risk management and return injured workers to work quicker and in a safe and sustainable way.
