On Monday 20 June 2016, Mark Coyne, CEO Employers Mutual announced the official rebranding of Employers Mutual Limited to ‘EML’.

“EML has a proud history as one of Australia’s oldest and most respected providers of work injury claims management services. As we have continued to diversify and expand our specialist services nationally, we have taken this opportunity to rebrand to EML to reflect our national presence,” said Mr Coyne.

Mr Coyne describes the new logo, as respectful of EML’s 100 year heritage of providing personalised support to customers and workers.

“Our new logo is designed to provide us with a fresh identity that brings together our people, our partnerships and mutuality.”

Following its recent appointed by WorkSafe Victoria to its agent panel, EML now provides workers compensation claims management across four state schemes including icare Workers Insurance and icare TMF in NSW and ReturnToWorkSA. EML also partners with a number of self-insurers around Australia.

Mr Coyne commented that, “Our core purpose of helping people get their lives back after a work injury has not changed. We will continue to leverage our expertise in workers compensation on a national basis, whilst also providing an expanded offering including self-insurance administration, life insurance services and consulting.”

Unlike the major insurance companies, EML is still an Australian-owned mutual, and through its single focus, continues to make significant investments in programs which improve workplace safety and support workers’ return to work.

“As the only workers compensation mutual in Australia, we operate solely for the benefit of our employer members. We reinvest part of our profits back into member benefits and last year invested over $5 million, across over 150 different work health and safety initiatives.”

“For some time many of our members have referred to us as EML so this change may not seem that big, however to our team of 1,400, it truly signifies the positive growth and direct of the organisation,” said Mr Coyne.

EML’s strategic brand and design agency, BWD Creative, has driven the rebranding project since early 2016.
