Education that addresses attitudes, behaviour and service expectations enable an approach that focuses on both prevention and recovery. EML has developed an extensive range of training materials with our partners, helping to prevent psychological injuries from occurring in the first place.

Pro-active approach to PTSD
EML and Fire and Rescue NSW partnered to present this seminar to 200 attendees which included members of the Rural Fire Service, NSW Police Force and NSW Ambulance. The seminar focused on actively improving the early
identification, intervention and management of PTSD throughout NSW.

Clubs Australia Industrial Seminar
EML and Clubs Australia Industrial jointly facilitated a workshop on the prevention and management of psychological injuries at the Clubs Australia Industrial National Human Resources & Workplace Relations conference, August 2015.

The workshop focused on the management of psychological injuries from a workers compensation and fair work / industrial relationship perspective through a number of facilitated role play examples.

Phoenix Australia led the development of the Australian Guidelines for the Treatment of Acute Stress Disorder and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and endorsed the supplementary Expert Guidelines: Diagnosis and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Emergency Service Workers.

Following the development of these guidelines, EML have engaged Phoenix Australia to develop and run training sessions on PTSD best practice in regional NSW, with courses scheduled to approximately 40 clinicians. Courses are designed to improve treatment outcomes for workers affected by trauma by updating clinician knowledge and treatment protocols.
