Good luck WorkSafe Victoria Award finalists
We wish two of our clients – Lendlease, and Jason McDonald of Seelite Windows & Doors – the best of luck at the WorkSafe Victoria Awards Gala event tonight, Friday 7 October.
Jason McDonald has been nominated for the Worker Return to Work Achievement Award.
Last year, carpenter Jason suffered a fractured skull, ribs and pelvis when the vehicle he was a passenger in collided with a parked truck. Jason worked with his case manager and occupational rehabilitation provider to aid his physical and mental recovery. With their support, and that of his family, Jason was able to return to his pre-injury hours less than one year after his accident. You can read more about Jason’s story here.
International property and infrastructure group, Lendlease, has been nominated for the Health & Safety Invention of the Year.
A major building contractor in Victoria, Lendlease had assessed a number of handrail systems but was unable to find a product that met its stringent safety standards to protect against potential falls on site. Out of necessity, Lendlease created an edge protection and site containment system called the Telescopic Handrail System, which was flexible enough to accommodate site constraints and multiple trades, while also being robust enough to provide appropriate protection. The system is now in use on multiple sites across Victoria. Since its introduction, zero falls incidents have been notified. You can read more here.
A team from EML will attend the gala event to support the 2016 finalists.
