EML receives the 2016 Collaboration in Injury & Disability Management Award
EML General Manager, TMF Operations, Rachel Elmes, received the Collaboration in Injury & Disability Management award at the 2016 Excellence in Personal Injury and Disability Management Awards.
- Recognised for collaborative partnership between EML and Fire & Rescue NSW to improve the mental health outcomes of firefighters
- Delivery of mental health program utilising a best-practice approach to the prevention and management of psychological injuries for firefighters
EML in conjunction with partners Fire & Rescue NSW received the Collaboration in Injury and Disability Management Award at the 2016 Excellence in Personal Injury and Disability Management Awards.
The awards, hosted by the Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF), showcase outstanding achievements within the field of personal injury management.
Accepting the award, Rachel Elmes, EML General Manager TMF Operations, thanked the Judging Panel for recognising the collaborative and innovative work that focused on early intervention in the treatment of Fire & Rescue NSW workers with PTSD.
In her acceptance speech, Ms Elmes noted that “by combining the knowledge base and resources of EML and Fire & Rescue NSW, we have developed a number of programs that effectively tackle the impact psychological injuries have on Emergency Services personnel”.
Fire & Rescue NSW are leading the way in implementing the recommendations contained in the Expert Guidelines: Diagnosis and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Emergency Service Workers by establishing a PTSD treatment pathways framework.
