Supporting mental wellbeing in the workplace

Around 20% of employees will experience a mental health issue, and this can have an enormous impact on their professional and personal life. As a mutual, EML invests a significant amount of our profits into safety and wellness initiatives. We saw the opportunity to develop some practical tools to help identify and prevent mental injury in the workplace. 

Together with the Shannon Company, we have created six videos which take an engaging look at workplace culture and what employers can do to reduce the risk of mental injury among employees.

 



(Mis)behave with Dave

Comedian Dave O’Neil, along with organisational psychologist Dr Peter Cotton provide a practical and accessible take on issues that can lead to mental injury in the workplace. Common issues such as work overload, stigma, change management, bullying, incivility are deftly handled with wit and poignancy by O’Neil and Dr Cotton.

Mental injury in the workplace has a substantial impact on employees, employers and organisations. These videos bring a difficult topic to the surface and make it easier to discuss. We hope that by seeing examples of how particular situations can be addressed, employers will be able to reflect on their own practice and take action to prevent mental injury in their workplace.
